electrical gremlins?

Alright guys this just happened out of the blue. Everytime I switch the key to the on position my engine fuse blows? Now my car wont start. I'm getting fuel and spark but still no go. What circuit is the engine fuse proctecting? Where do I start? Any ideas? I'm running out of fuses!

Thanks, Ed

I hate electrical problems. Sounds like you got a hot wire grounding otu somewhere to me. I'd just look at all the wiring for something like that, but electrical crap is not my thing.

Check your starter wire. It might have fallen off the post of the starter and is grounding out. That happened to me once when I did my motor swap. Hope its that easy. If not I guess just start narrowing down all the wires that get hot when the ignition is on.

Do you have a workshop manual?
I'd look at a wiring diagram and see what feeds off that fuse. Inspect that wiring and then if you see nothing start disconnecting wires one at a time until the fuse quits blowing.
If you don't have a manual tell us exactly which fuse it is. I'm assuming there is more than one engine fuse.

Guys thanks for the responses. Anyways, I dont have a manual yet. And for everyone thats taking the time to help me out, THANKS in advance! Back to the car. The fuse that keeps blowing is the engine fuse(in car fuse box very top LH side). I believe thats the only engine fuse. Basically anything that is switched on is suspect. I hate electrical gremlins! The funny thing was it drove fine that morning and by luck I was stranded by the road. Oh well I guess I'm going gremlin hunting.

Thanks, Ed
