Electrical Drainage

hey whats up my fellow rotorheadz.........i got a question Whats Wrong With My Car!!!!....

.......i have a 83 gsl and am having some sort of electrical drain goin on. I went to drive my car last night and as soon as i turned on my lights i saw my volts drop from 14 to 9 volts instantly.........my lights began to dim and my radio started to turn on and off by itself.........soon after my temp guage skyrockets so i stop and check my radiator and its cool........so i knew it waas sending me false readings......so i keep driving and it was the same.........and when i hit the brakes it does the same thing......

........This happened to me before about 6 months ago and i replaced the Alternator, the Battery, the Cables, the Starter, and the ignitors and the proble was fixed......and now its happing again and am stumped because all these things are 6 months old.........can u guys please HELP me.......

try run a wire from the bat to the + on the alt

once i did this it solved my surging power and gave a consistant 14v

check your grounds if you have done any painting or lose that would cause dimming light

do u experice flat battrey?

my alt was charging and discharging and i was gettin stuck in random places lol

I say JUNK that low-amp alternator and the fusible links for a much better S5 alternator and fuse block. I dont charge much...just a good supply of cold heine's.

yeah my alternator is either shitin the bed or i got a problem because i charge about13.5 vlts then if i turn my fan on(elecrtic) and lights and other stuff im down to about 12.5,and if it rains and i got the wipers, rear defroster, and all that good stuff im either lower than 12 or at 12, i got a spare alt at home, i should keep it in my car, but that sounds like a good idea blwfly.

You need the have the battery tested first. Which means load tested for amperage.
And have the alt checked. You looking for amperage output and the condition of the diodes.

First make sure the belt is tight and that the connections between the battery postss and the cables are clean and that the ground is good.
