ECUs

Saw a picture the other day of a 12A first gen with the ECU at the feet of the passenger side. I have a 83 and there is nothing at the passenger's feet. When did they start putting ECUs in that location. I didn't think that 12As even needed a ECU as they don't have FI. Like what is there to control.

i've been told that the 12a cars had a sort of mini-ecu to control the warning lights, turn signals, and brakelights and whatnot... could be wrong tho.

The one that the 12a had in it was just for emissions. I don't remember the location of it though.

I know the 13b has the ECU under the passenger's feet.
