Would an ECU be located in a 1982 rx-7? If it had one.

 

Yes, it's located underneath the passenger's side of the dash. I think the only one(s) that didn't have that was the 79/80.

 

the only first gens that would have an ecu would be those that are efi (and thus 84-85 se's).. there is the emmisions control box (on the drivers side under the dash on the 79-80) that i suppose could be misconstrued as an ecu.

 

There is the Emissions control box that riffraff was talking about that controls all those bright colored vacuum solenoids on the top of the motor, and that is all. The ignitions is all self contained in the distributor so there is no ignition module to find either (after looking for an hour and then looking in the book i wanted to hurt myself).

 

Actually, on my 85 12A, I have an ECU up under my dash. It's also in all the wiring diagrams as well... All those vacuum lines and the rat's nest are just the beginning...
