Eccentric Shaft A/C pulley

I have a 1984 GSL-SE, and I am putting in an electric fan. Since I have no air conditioning (already removed), I was wondering if I could remove the front pulley on the eccentric shaft (the one that drives the a/c) to clear some room for the fan. Will this cause any problems?

make sure you make a good mark to line the pulley up right again when you need to set the timing
