Ebaying and shoping around

Ok i found a 13b out of a gen 2 and so far the bid is at 30. Im thinkin about getting it as aproject rebuild. The guy say he think the apex seals went or was told thats what the problem was. The engine just crancked but didn't start. What is a none running engine worth? I figured i might go as high as 40-60 depending on the cost of the rebuild i would do the work my self with the help and knowlege of all the people on here.
Also found an 85 rx-7 for 250 also local less than 20min from my house going to look at it tomarrow i hope. this is his description of the car

'85 RX7 The engine is 12A, it ran last time I tried it last summer. Runs good. It has about 110,000 on it. 5 speed trans. The front struts are bad. Body
fair with some rust on lower panels and frame. faded red paint job. Interior is in very good shape. windshield has a crack on bottom edge and wipers not working (arm fell off, wiper motor OK). I thought 85's had 13b's in them.

If the engine on Ebay did in fact lose an apex seal then it is not worth very much. You would need new at least on new rotor housing for sure, and those things are pretty expensive. When I lost an apex seal in my old engine it costed me ~$800 to rebuild (I got 2 used housings and rotors). I was in a hurry though, I didnt really shop around for a deal on the parts, just got whatever came up first.

The only first gens to come with a 13b are the GSL-SE. I would buy that car if the rust isnt too bad, 110,000 miles isnt really all that many and it would make a good project car.

You will be outbid anyways.

Engines seem to go for $500+ from what I have seen on Ebay, even in poor condition.

Ok the engine is within 70miles of my home so no im not going to ship it that would be stupid, it would only tak like $20 in gas to go and fetch it.
The add said nothing about turbo and it didn't look like it had a turbo but I don't know if he took it off. The bid is till under $30 so im going to call the guy and see what he's expecting to get and offer cash.
