Thus far, I've only bought stuff on ebay, but I've had no issues. It depends on who you're doing business with. A lot of guys on here are awesome, but there's always a few bad apples.
I've never had a problem using eBay. I have a feedback rating of 50-something (100%) with about 5-6 sales of my own. As long as (if buying) you read everything first, or (if selling) you write everything out, it's a pretty hassle-free system.

eBay is an interesting place to do business. Take that as both good and bad. Really, it's what you make of it. If you are listing something, it helps to know the keywords that people might search for and to use very good descriptions with good photos and clear shipping costs. Put both "RX-7 and RX7" in your title, along with whatever else necessary. Don't just put "inake"...be descriptive, like "S5 NA upper and lower intake manifolds", or whatever. And, use a gallery picture. If you are buying, learn the advanced search functions and look at listing with poor titles. Just last week, I found a listing called "rx7 engine/motor" that turned out to be a blown 13B-REW engine from a 94 FD. The lister also had put up a freight shipping calculator that indicated over $700 shipping...it was an error and the listing was revised to say shipping would cost whatever it cost. I just confirmed he would use our shipper on our account, which would be more like $150 to ship. The winning bid (mine) was $207. Not enough people saw the listing because the title was not descriptive enough and those who did look at it were put off by the estimated shipping cost. The extra effort I made got me an FD core for $350 to my door. Considering that salvaging a single rotor is worth $500, it was a bargain. That's just one example. I'm always looking for stuff listed in the wrong section or with poorly worded titles.

I think Ebay is a great place to sell parts, but there Good & Bad like blake said. If you plan on listing something go on ebay a couple of days before you list the item do a search and try to find out if anyone else is selling the same item, look at how they descibe the product, see what there starting price is, do they have a reserve price, and take note of how many bids the has had. If you think what you have is better than there product you can have your starting price a little higher or vise versa if you think your is worse. Descibe what your selling to the best of your ability dont be short and pictures help alot. If you can package the item up before the action (you dont have to tape everything up) and go down to the post office and get a price on how much it would be to ship the furthest awy from you for instense from California to New York and then some where half the distance, from that take an average of the to prices and and see if you would be comfortble paying the difference if it had to be shipped further. if you not raise it a little. Then make this a Flat Rate Shipping Fee. I've sold about 40 different thing on there so far and this has worked so far.
