easy parking brake cable removal?

I'm just about to pull a rear caliper and realized I have to deal with the stupid parking brake cable yet again. I really do hate the design on these things. I have tried all kinds of ways to remove them with the least hassle and it's always to much work. What do you do when you have to disconnect this thing? The best way I have found is to disconnect the little coupler in the cable but then I have to mess with pushing half the cable back through the subframe of the car.

Maybe I'm just missing the most obvious and easy way to take it apart...someone please tell me I am.

if your only removing a caliper, all you should have to do is disconnect it at the caliper by pulling it and taking it out of the little thing for it. you shouldnt need to back the cable up the the sub frame just for a caliper.

im sorry this was a little vague... i dont know the terminology lol

It doesn't pull out of the hook-thing, and never has. There's just not enough slack in the cable for anything like that...maybe if I loosened the tension on it at the handle it would work...

yeah make sure the ebrake handle is all the way down, and it should come off. its a tight fit, and a pain in the ***, but it should come off, it has to.

on my dads race car, we dont need an ebrake so its always disconnected. i never have to deal with that cable when i do brake work ever again! lol
