It didnt work for me

I will have to pull mine apart entirely at some point lol.. kents method of shooting it with half a can of contact cleaner didnt phase mine.


I did everything as kent instructed, except I lost the ball bearings a few times under the drive seat, and once under the passenger seat. lol.

Good write-up, having the same problem with pushing stalk forward. Am going to try contact cleaner without taking anything apart and report back tomorrow.

I took mine apart and cleaned the contacts. It worked. No magic potions for me!

Once again, all the answers I needed.
No high beams.

Horn cap is just the plastic piece.
Wiggling left and right did not budge the wheel, had to resort to a wheel puller which bent the wheel at the bolt holes, but was hammered straight again.
And Step 7 in the Hanes book made no sense, but lifting the tab in the back was what I needed.

Followed your procedure, and it worked pretty good. The dim lights come on now, but no high beams. I can flash though, so I know they work. PercentsevenC maybe you can post how to take apart the combo switch.

Even cleaning the combo switch contacts will not prevent this problem from recurring, too much current draw through that switch that was never designed to last so many years. So switch to LED headlights or place a relay in the headlight circuit to keep the current draw low.
