e-fan

I'm looking to get an electric fan from the wreckers to replace the overly loud and horsepower robbing clutch fan.

I have an '83 with a 12A. Therefore, I've got the taller rad (stupid beehive). What cars should I be looking at for fan.

It doesn't matter if it's a push or pull fan.

Thanks.

A firebird or trans am from the late 80's fan will fit into the stock fan shroud...I am getting mine hooked in the next couple of days. Post pics then...

Hmmm.... I tried a camaro fan, and I couldn't get it to fit with the 13b. 12a's obviously have more room.

I am running a fan from a 95+ cavalier/sunfire. Pulls a tonne of air, mounts to 2nd gen rad nicely.

I plan on eliminating the fan shroud, and putting the fan ahead of the rad. I plan on having the polarity of the fan motor run so that it pushes into the rad. If memory serves, there's enough room in front of the rad so that the fan could be the same dimensions as the rad (ie no bars or anything sitting directly in front of the rad). Therefore, the fan would have to fit within the steel shroud ahead of the rad rather than between the rad and the engine where the stock clutch fan is now. So would all of those fans mentioned still work?

Thanks

Most of the aftermarket fans are reversible. If you plan to use junkyard fan, fiero as in example, it only use as a puller. Dont ask me how I found out . Also, if you have the p/s and a/c, you may not enough room in there for a junkyard fan.

For pusher, if you have no a/c, remove the condenser to have room to mount a fan in front of the radiator. I was able to mount a 16" derale.

fiero fan installed mounted on a piece of aluminum, instead of directly to the short radiator core, to keep the spacing even with the oil cooler.

derale pusher using brackets. also not mounted directly to the radiator core.
