Drum brake help

i know this isnt on my 7, but I know that the 7s have drum, so I figured you guys would know best. Ive only worked with disc.

I was rotating my tires, when I took off the back brakes to check them. This is what I found.

I know I need new shoes

Also should I get a spring kit?

Its a 1999 Jeep Wrangler 4x4

That's going to take some work. Probably the result of cylinder leakage saturating the shoes, which swelled and softened, and ground themselves to paste against the drums.

New cylinder or rebuild kit, new shoes, Drum may be salvageable. springs, hard to say but why not.

Tear everything down, clean everything out, repaint the backing plate, get the drum checked and turned, and put it all back together and bleed. Nice saturday project.
