Hi there all, so I'm looking to make a drop vented hood out of the factory hood. My question is, it seems that alot of friends of mine, especially one who is in body work says the hood metal is too thin and will warp when welding in the side pieces. Is this true? Also about how far down could I go with the vent before running into clearance issues? Thanks in advance.

 

Yes, the metal will warp, but if it's done right by a skilled welder with a TIG that's used to welding on that stuff, the warpage will be minimized. As for the clearance, that varies depending on what's under your hood. An easy way to get a vented hood is to contact FibreMaz (do a search) and buy one of his fiberglass or CF ones. I bought one a few months ago, and the workmanship is first rate.
