why should i wait for the engine to warm up before running it hard? Do the metals heat up at different rates. Does the 12a have different metals for each housing? I don't see the point of letting the engine warm, of course I start it for about 45-60 seconds before moving to get oil pressure going.

 

The oil pressure only says something about the oil pump, not about the oil temp! Cold oil might build up the correct pressure, but won't lubricate aswell. And yes, all the metal parts will "set" during warm up. Actually ALL engines (piston ones too) need to warm up before driving them hard.
I suggest you do a compression test with your engine when cold. Write down the numbers, and repeat when warm. Let me know the difference. Now you know why warming up is needed.
And yep rotaries have different metals for the housings: iron front, alu rotor housing, iron centre, alu rotor, iron end plate.
