Drivers door handle is limp and doesn't open door

Well like my TII used to do when I first bought it, my new FB doesn't having a weorking exterior driver's door handle. On the TII I had to replace the door handle assembly due to a broken springy thing. What is the most likely problem and fix for the FB? I am hopping it's a common problem with a well known fix that easy to DIT(all Rx-7s seem to get this problem, Mazda had trouble making handles huh?) Thanks,

Chris.

cast piece broke inside you can pop the skin on the passenger side and see if that side is still good. Since they are interchangeable you might get lucky

If the passenger handle is ok, swap it over. When you swap sides, it hooks up to different spot, so putting the DR handle on the other side will usually allow it work.
The 1st gen uses the same handle, on both sides, but the linkage hooks up to opposite ends. Break a handle on side, and swap the 2 around, both doors will then work.

As far as if you want to purchase a new one.

blackdragonauto.com for about $70.00 plus shipping.

Mazdatrix.com

Might want to check rock auto and some of the other parts stores. Help products used to make replacements as well as Motormite.

For used one check wrecking yard or post WTB thread in the classifieds.

Thanks a bunch! I am loving this FB so much more than I thought I would. This section of the site seems nicer than the 2nd gen section did.
