dreams for this new car of mine

Normally I wouldn't do this but I have some ideas for this thing. Can't afford it right now but in four or six months I should be better off.

So now it's got the original 12A, drivetrain, etc. I still have my TII trans and Diff so I think I'll throw those bad boys in there. But really the meat'n'potatoes of this new RX-7 is a built 13B. Thinking maybe a half bridge? Or a big streetport. Dunno. Probably s5 rotors. And I think I will use the Megasquirt thang. I am not digging carbs so far. Or if I ran into a good bargain on a Haltech F series ECU then I would use the distributor.

But all in all I think it would be a super fun DD. Wouldn't be anything like what my old car would have become, but much more like a 140mph go-kart

And you are installing the TII diff and irs how? The tranny is one thing, but installing the diff and all of the modding to do it is a major undertaking.

Also the TII trans is not just a bolt in and go either. There are mods that need to be done.

All the things you have listed besides the diff and Irs are realistic goals.
However that is going to take some real cash and hopefully you have a backup vehicle to drive before you start on your adventure.

The diff I couldn't remember. One of my buddies bought an SA with TII drivetrain but now that I think about it, it wasn't a TII diff. (I still forget these things have live axles.)

But for the trans, I thought I would just have to cover my flywheel, clutch, fluid, and driveshaft issues. There aren't any other obstacles, are there? AFAIK the shifter'n stuff lines up.

And I have been without a car for like four months now. I can walk to work or get a ride or take the bus. (Which is why I'm antsy to get the thing running again.)

Nope there is more. You need to do a search on this to understand what is involved in putting a TII trans in a 1st gen.

I read through all that stuff about cutting the shift rod, and using the FB tailhousing to get the TII tranny to fit, but when I dropped it all in, it all lined up pretty nicely. I cut maybe a cm away at the sheetmetal.

edit: Unless it has anything to do with the car originally being an automatic, but I think its all the same.
