Down Under Racing Videos
This is a repost from another board that I read:
Improved Production is a racing series held in Australia. It kicked off in 1981 and was then called Road Registered and was primarily for ex Rally cars to go circuit racing. Back then most of the cars drove to the track, and was very much a "run what ya brung" style of series.

As the numbers grew, it was changed again to Club Cars, and then recently to Improved Production. Nowdays, the cars are very purpose built, and the top runners cars costing up to and around 35K worth. The beauty of the series though, is you still can remain competitive and mixing it with the pointy end for less, and substantially less than most other racing series. Within the main series theres also various classes, under 1.6litres, under 2 litres, and 2litres plus.

I won't bore you with technicalities, but the basics are, the interior can be partially stripped (std dash has to remain), an approved rollcage has to be fitted, the engine has to be the same make as the car (ie no ford v8's into datsun 1600's), a H pattern gearbox with a maximum of 5 forward gears, all turbo engines must run an FIA restrictor (34mm from memory) and 13B rotaries are allowed to have modified side porting (ie: bridge porting) but no peripheral porting is allowed. Theres numerous suspension/brake rules, but I won't go there. They all run a Control Tyre, which this year has been the Yokohama A032R.

The old rotaries seem to dominate the class, but theres always a big V8 that will dice it up with them, and the odd turbo car as well. Recently theres also been rule changes for late model vehicles, so theres also a WRX and an EVO that are being contenders out there.

To give you an idea of the power to weight these things have, most of the top end rotaries are around 320hp, and weigh in around 850-900kilo, the top running v8's push out around 500+ and run around 1200-1300 kilo. The turbo 4's-6's are the middle ground.
I have mirrored the videos - you can access them here:
