Has anyone put a double din deck in a first gen. I'm wondering how they fit and if anyone would recomend a particular double din deck. I have been looking at the pioneer. The stores here don't have double din decks for me to check out.

Any suggestions?

 

Well, since you didn't state what year car you have, I looked it up in your profile.

1984/1985 RX-7's have a 2.5 Din sized Opening.

This means you could actually place two full size Radios and a 1/2 in EQm or pocket or whetever.

There are several cars with a Full Double Din Stereo installed.

See below, this is a full Double Din, with room to spare.




Personally a very good option is Manntis' Stereo Surround . He has them for sale at a fair price, considereing all the R & D he put into it.

Mine WILL let you put a double DIN deck in, but you'd have to modify or omit the front stainless facia (that cross piece under the deck in the pic might get in the way otherwise)
