Dont Ignore, Guages!

Ok. Many problems after installing my Silver Guages! My Temp guage, Oil Pressure, and Speedo guages are not working.. Could my problem be that they are not plugged in? Or??? If they are not plugged in, would all the lights still work? All my needles for every guage are lit up. Anyone else have this problem after installing these guages? Im for mad at this point, i love the guages but they are pointless if nothing works! Someone help! Rotary-Rex

Also, did you paint the needles? If you don't, they are extremely hard to see at night.

Let us know how it works out for you.

No, I am referring to the stock needles on the 84/85 cars in the U.S. The are a (faded) transluscent orange.
These instrument clusters are 100% backlit only, and don't have any lighting in the front of the gauges. They look awesome this way. Mazda was well ahead of it's time back then.

When putting on the new Gauges, I remember reading somewhere that you should paint them over with a flourescent Magic Marker so they will light up more crearly, and be visible at night.

Does anybody have some good pics of the gauges at night, with clear, glowing needles? If so, what did you do to the needles? Paint? Replace? - What? Thanks.

OK, got them fixed, and man am i releaved. Turns out the wires from the new guages were a bit loose inside the cluster and rubbing on the oil pressure needle and the temp needle... The speedometer face was just slightly out of place and rubbing... Thanks for the help guys. Oh and about the needles, if i were to paint them with red nail polish, wouldnt it be less translucent and not light up as much? Let me know. Thanks
