Do it yourself paint job

Who has painted their own car with little or no experience? What books did you read or guide did you follow to learn how to sand, primer and paint? How did it turn out. I am on a real tight budget so I must do all I can myself. Looking for all the help I can get.

body work is tricky, try not to but too much filler on panels, ans its a lot easier to put another layer on, than it is to sand off a whole lot of excess

you can use automotive paint thined and hardened and roll it on.

tuns out pretty good it you use a foam roller and take your time.

I did a car a few years ago. It was a very hot muggy day and the clear coat didn't turn out so well. My advice would be to pick a day that isn't so hot and use a filter on your air compressor. I was told you need about 10 feet of hose between the tank and filter so the water can separate from the air.

I've painted a couple of my cars on the cheap...

my miata was about $300 start to finish..it was sanded down to near bare metal...I used an OMni single stage paint and HVLP gun

my IT7 car I used an Acrylic Enamel and rolled it, it cost about $150 start to finish but was a lot more work

as said above the key is the prep....you can make near any paint look good as long as you are willing to take the time to sand it between coats and make sure you apply the paint evenly.
