Disc Brake upgrade suggestions...

I'm preparing to do the brakes on my car, and wondering what aftermarket options you have found valuable. Anything from the basic, such as better pads, to the wild, like slotted rotor kits or colorful calipers.

thx!

FC subframe/brakes, or re-speed BBK.

I'm actually in the process of doing the Turbo II brake upgrade. Check out Re-Speed. I'll be using their conversion kit.

Definitely check out Respeed. They've got some great stuff.

I run dirt cheap Rockauto discs all around (think I paid like 15 bucks each) and Hawk pads. This has worked very well for three years now. Daily driving, autocross, cross country road trips, etc.

However, I did get a chance to ride in dj55b's car last year. He has the Respeed big brake setup, and the difference is just incredible. I nearly had to peal my face off the inside of the windshield, despite the tightly clamped seatbelt. Very nice indeed.

Another for Respeed big brake kit. I have had it on my car for some time now, and I absolutely love it.

If you didn't want to go with the ReSpeed setup, you can always do Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads.

Hawk: Racingbeat stocks them.

No clue on the powerslot rotors.

I have cheapie rotors and HPS pads with Valvoline DOT4 fluid and SS lines, and the brakes are great. I do have to agree with Mark that dj55b (a.k.a. Sam)'s car with the ReSpeed BBK kit and R888's was absolutely insane last summer.

If you have an 85, you could always do the 5bolt swap and then you can run any FC big brake kit.

How big you want? I am running 14" mustag rotors and Wilwood 6pot calipers up front and 13" Vette rotors with wilwood 4pots out back ...you will need 17" wheels however!

I just ordered a set of drilled and slotted rotors and pads from V1Specs. Has anybody had any dealings with them? Are they any good?
