Disable the Brake Booster

I have a Rotary Engineering manifold & twin Weber Carbs on a 13-B engine in a 1983 RX-7. The car runs best when the vacuum to the brake booster is disconnected & plugged. Can you take out the diaphram or other internal parts from the brake booster to remove the "power assist" portion of the booster and simply have regular, manual brakes? It seems to me that the master cylinder, pushrod distances, etc. should all stay the same, but you would not have the stiffness of a "disabled" brake booster. Anyone tried this or have other suggestions for this. The car is only used for autocrosses & track day events.
