Direct fire best ignition options for your GLC

Fellas, i've been tracking this topic for a couple days now. I was able to find good resources and technical advice ! I'm currently using a (DFIS) with a stock first gen ignitor and a 2gen coil with the ballast resistor wired in the circiut. I noticed the difference instantly compared to the stock igntion. So, at this point i want more of coarse ! I was hoping someone could tell me more about 2GDFIS w/ Transistor. Where do i start ?

You already have 2GCDFIS? The transistor trick is probably the only way to get a more powerful spark out of the thing.

Is your engine already streetported? If you're looking for major power gains, I'm afraid the only way is to boost it. You've got a dellorto, right? Or a weber? They can provide decent power, but again, the only way to make a very noticeable increase is to get a turbo or supercharger. Since your ignition is already upgraded, it would work well with whatever aproach to boost you decide to take, if any.

When my GLC was running briefly with a 13B in it, I threw in a couple ignitors and coils for DLIDFIS. The engine was rebuilt and in need of breaking in so I could not do anything to experience the power potential of the ignition system, or the lightness of the chassis. Keeping it under 4k RPM = blah.

Direct fire

Today, i drove my (GLC) around town and was able to really put the car through some test's to see how the (Direct fire) was working for me. My engine idle's alot cleaner and the throttle response is way more sensitive. I really notice the difference in the top end rpm band ! I was having problems with the car rev past 8200 rpm's and now it's almost scary to see that there's no limit. I also notice that there wasn't any popping on hard accelleration and decelleration as well . I'm sure that's there more to add to this but right now this is all i have at this point. The only other concern i have is about the ballast resistor in the 2gen coil. The ballast resistor is located in the coil pack box next to the ignitor. Well, i wired that resistor in the circuit and all is well at this point. Is this ok ?

When using the 2GCDFIS what spark plugs are best for this type of ignition set-up ? I'm currently using "85" 12A plugs in my "90" 13B engine.

i haven't been able to run my FB much, but when it ran shortly before discovering the massive oil leak, it ran real nice and smooth on FD plugs... not sure how it drove tho, didn't get to move it...
