Differential info needed;
I've built a replica of a Lotus 7 sports car using a Suzuki motorcycle engine/transmission. You can see the car etc at;

I'm using a 1st generation, 1983 RX-7 GSL rear end with the 3.909:1 ring & pinion and LSD. This gear ratio is just too low for the motorcycle engine/transmission. What I have in mind to do is change the third member out to the Diesel rear end from a 1982-'48 Mazda B2200 or a 1983-'84 Ranger Diesel. I plan on using my LSD with the new 3rd member gears.
I have a couple of questions that I have not been able to find answers to on the web. But I'm sure that someone on this forum will know the answers.
---
1. Can anyone tell me for sure if the Ranger Diesel gear set is the same as the RX-7 (i.e. 7" diameter ring gear & "short pinion")? From all that I've read so far, I'm assuming that the B2200 gears and third member are the same.
2. What gear ratio do the two pickups have? I have conflicting numbers of 3.220:1 and/or 3.308:1. I realize the difference is very slight but I'd like to know what the real number is.
3. What diameter axles does the B2200 use? The 1979 to 1983 RX-7 uses what's called the "small" axles with 24 splines on the axle. The 1984 to 1985 uses the "large" ones with 26 splines. I don't know the actual diameters though.
My plan is to leave the Diesel pinion in it's third member so as to not mess up the backlash, bolt the Diesel ring gear onto my LSD and install the combo back into the third member.
4. Will the LSD fit into the Diesel third member or are the GSL/LSD and Diesel third member internals different?
Please correct me if any of this information is wrong.
thanks guys
