did the mmo and now the rear plugs keep fouling

I have an 84 gsl-se with 240,000 never rebuilt. I know what your thinking yeah right but hear me out. When we pulled the six port sleave I kid you not they where about third full of carbon and look like they had not been opened in the last 100,000 miles. We decarbonized the engine as much as we could. We used marvel and a ford carb cleaner, turned the motor by hand got compression on the front but most of the marvel came out the back exhaust port. When rebuilding the intake we did the TBM, and block off plates. We pulled the fuse and turned it over with out spark plugs or exhuast to get all of the marvel and carb cleaner out. I have RC fuel injectors and I cleaned out the oil injectors. We got it all cleaned out on the intake side and put the intake back together put the fuse back in and try to get it to start the rear plugs fouled so after that happend a few times I pulled the fuse turned it over put the fuse back in tried it again it started. It was running okay but when we took it for a test drive it had no power so we went back to the shop pulled the plugs the fronts where dry the back were still very wet. We tested compresion pretty good on both 92 on front about 95 on back. After multipull plug changes and cleaning I decided to vaccume the exhaust ports as we turned the motor over. We got done with that put the exhaust back on and tried starting it Got it started and both sides where running briefly.

The problem now is the rear plugs keep fouling out and misfiring after running a very short time. We don't know if its because there is mmo in the engine or if the side seals or oil seal is allowing oil into the housing and fouling the plugs.

It's definatly oil of some type that is fouling the plugs and not fuel. When the plugs do not foul the engine runs strong but we can't drive it for more than two miles before they do.

Sorry this a tome but I have tried to explain everything as throughly as possible.

Thanks Brad,

Does it smoke? If not, it could be a bad plug wire or a bad spark plug. It could even be a bad connector in the distributor cap.

Yes it smokes a little from the mmo but we have brand new distributer cap and brand new plug wires.

Whens the last time you changed the oil? How long did take to get it started? I had this same problem, went and did the mmo/atf trick and in doing so I ended up flooding it real bad. The only way I could get it started was to rig the omp up to my strut bar and run it wide open. Turns out the oil had gotten so thin it lost most of it's viscousness( is that a word?) and just compounded my flooding problem. Changed out the oil and filter and have been running fine ever since.

Does the plug smell like MMO or oil?

Is your OMP flowing the correct rate? If it is flowing too much you'll foul plugs.

I the OMP can't flow that much. It's a common misconception.

Try this: pull off one or both of your OMP lines from the carb. Premix beforehand if you're worried about the apex seals not getting lubed for a few minutes. Fire iup the engine. Then pull the OMP lever arm up as high as it will go and observe how much oil flows from the tubes. Isn't it supposed to be some really small amount per minute? I don't remember the CC per minute value, but it's really pretty small.

Everythings working good now put more carb. cleaner and mmo in. Most have been a side seal that we didn't get loosed up when we did the first carbon treatment thanks for the help.
