Diagnosing whats wrong
I've had my car (12a) sitting for four months now. Tried to start it today. Put in the battery, turned the ignition and heard a "calck" sort of sound.
Tried again but power wasn,t showing on dash.
Could it be the battery cables?
How do you know when the starter is gone?
How do you know when your spark plugs are gone?
Does anyone have any idea what the "clack" sound might be?
Any help at all would be seriously appreciated.
What procedure should I follow in starting a car thats been sitting for months?

Wellcom to the forum
Are you in London Ontario?
Did you put the battery on a charger first to make sure it was charged up?
When you stored the battery did you set it on cement ?
If you did the battery could be AFU.
Batteries like to be stored on wood ( just a plank on the flour is fine) and they perfer a room that is 50 Deg F for storage.
As far as the rest of the electrical I have no I have no idea.
Get a meeter and check to see how many volts you have on the battery. Check it with out the battery cables connected.
This is a real stupid question did you have the battery terminals hooked up properly?
(Not trying to be ignorant)
Any way I am all out of segestions
Good luck

The battery is fully charged.
I think I am starting to lean towards the bad cables idea. I'll change them today and see what happens.
What should I do about the gas? (been sitting there for 4 months).
Thanks for all the help guys. seriously appreciated.

For next time add fuel stabelizer.
Maybe syphon out the old gas and add fresh. Try to get your hands on a pump to pump the gas out no one wants to mouth syphon gas.
Good luck

That clack noise sounds like the solenoid on the starter is kicking, but there isn't enough juice to the starter motor to turn it. As others have said, check your connections first, including the ground connection to the motor and the terminals on top of the battery. If that doesn't work, the starter may be "stuck". Turning the motor over by hand may free it up.
