Dellorto on a 13B 4port?

Can a dellorto support a streetported 13B 4port? I'm build a 4port now and was just wondering if my RB Dellorto can feed it. Also any jetting recomendations for a 4port.

Thanks, Ed

The Dellorto will do the business! I have a 45 DHLA that works like a charm on my 4 port 13B. I suggest you also upgrade the exhaust, and get some sort of cold air feed to the filter, for example a pipe from the airdam and to the filter.

Oh, and if the RB Dellorto still has its original jets that RB supplied, keep them, they are modified ones, nearly impossible to get a hold of these days and they perform like no others!

You will also need a new fuel pump, Facet red top or something equal, to feed the carb.

With these mods and standard ports, you shold push out about 170-180 Bhp, or 200-220 with a street port!

EDIT: if you dont have the jets, do a search on this forum and you should find what you are looking for!

I sold my dellorto because it couldn't feed my street ported 4 port 13B. It was way too rich for one thing. What is that a sign of?

I have a 48DHLA.

Yes it should. I have a BIG street port, and it does fine. Like mortenf said

Im running a Purolator ( FAUCET) it has HIGH pressure from 4-7psi with 32GPH for flow and it does fine. BUT you wanna run that carb like @ 2psi. Dell's like volume from what I heard. So you wil need a Fuel Pressure Regulator. Also a guage.

I did have a SPECTER brand pressure regulator and I had problems with it, @ the top of 3rd and 4th. As soon as I switched to the Holley FPR what a difference.

My set up:

48 DHLA
39 Venturies (I should be @ 40mm chokes)
300 Needle and Seat
235 Main
230 Fuel
80 Pump
80 Idle

Dont know what it should be for a 45...

I'll ask my carb guy for specs for 45 and get u pics of my setup...

What you your fuel setup???

Like I said, I had problems too w/o a regulator. Then I put the Purolator one on, it keep it from flooding but I couldn't get fuel at the top of 3rd and into 4th. Just make sure to get a good FPR like the holley one.

Also I was getting 10MPG and I would throw HUGE fire *****. Found out I had a 120 for my pump jet witch is HUGE ! ! ! I was recomended a 80 Pump and I pulled a new set of plugs and it looked Perfect.

It seemed to work well on a stock ported engine, but the jetting etc wasn't quite right for a street port.

Jeff do you know why nobody uses the 48 IDA carbs? (maybe the fact of no choke provisions?)

Your guess is as good as mine. The JDM (Cosmo? Luce?) Hitachi carb that comes with R5 engines works better than the dellorto did. The secondaries are great althought the primaries feel a little weaker in the 2-4k RPM range. Just a little bit. Everything else is a night to day difference for the better with my engine's porting.

I'll show you what it'd be like. BRub BRUB Brub Brub is my idle. Ask the banana man. He did most of the work for me cause I'm not too good and consider myself a noobie still. Check it out bro. www.cardomain.com/id/mazdagslse

I only got 3 words and its abreviation electronic fuel injection with a hallteck ht10 engine management system. All your engine starvations from fussy carbs will disappear.

Pretty good idea. MegaSquirt was originally a fuel-only ECU, but it can do ignition now with some of the latest codes. Anyway, it's a great, minimally expensive DIY fuel injection computer and would also be a great way to accomplish what Lee Lyons has suggested.

Couldnt feed it? When you say way to rich, dont you mean that you have to much gas coming in to the engine? I know that they are hard to fine tune, but if you do it right, a Dellorto would beat a weber or a holley anytime.

Oh yeah, are you talking about a 45 DHLA or a 48 DHLA? I have found out that the 45 is actually better for the 13B.

I will open my 45 this week and post the jetsizes. The setup i run works great!

I'd like to see factual data that backs this up if you don't mind

It was a regular old Racing Beat prepped 48DHLA. I believe Racing Beat may not have had a setup for a street port. You'll need to give them a call.

My REPU with 13b 4 port streetport uses 48dhla and RB manifold. It runs like a champ.

40mm chokes
235 main fuel
220 main air
3.00 needle and seat
2.25psi fuel pressure from holley blue 110gph fuel pump

I did have 41mm chokes in there but not enough low end in my opinion.

Easy there Ryan!

Racing beat does not have jetting specs for their 48DHLA on a streetport buy many of us have rejetted it on our own just fine.

I even have their dellorto on my 12a J-bridge running great.
