Defunct AC

Just bought a new 85 gsl-se. The ac doesn't blow cold air. The light in the dash comes on when the A/C button is in but the clutch on the condensor doesn't kick in. Ran a 12 volt test wire from the battery to the compressor and it "clicks". So i think the compressor side works and I think the dash control unit may work since it lights up and all. Are there any places to look specifically that are trouble prone for the weak link? And where is the fuse for the ac. My haynes manual is totally different from my gsl-se.

Please Help

The reason the air compressor doesnt kick in, is cause of the pressure switch. I bet money you are low or have no freon in the system. You need to replace the accumulator, and for good measure Id replace all the O rings that go at all hose fittings, Id also connect r134a fittings on the compressor. So that freon is cheaper Then do a leak down test, pull a good vacuum on the system with a good quality electric vacuum pump and see if it hold vacuum, if it does then add r134a to it. I forget the capacity, but im sure it will be in a chilton's a/c book, then do a sniffer test with a qualified sniffer tool... As you can see if you dont have the proper equipment you are better off having a qualified shop do the repairs

how about if the ac light doesn't come on? my ac worked before i put the sidedraft on, but i didn't bother to hook it back up. now it's hot. i want ac. push button ac no go. no click and no drop in idle. and wouldn't ya know it, haynes manuals don't have a section on ac.
