Decisions

i have a 79 Rx-7 that i got a couple months ago after much trouble i finnaly got the thing running. i love it but i cant decide what to do with it. the car as it stands wont pass emissions in colorado. I'm just waiting until jan 1 when they go away. the reason the car wont pass is probly due to the heavy porting on the 13b engine that was put in it and the Dual weber carbs, and it probly doesnt help that it doesnt have a cat. sooo.....my question is what should i do with this car im saving up some money to get it painted and probly drop in a turbo but im not sure where to get a kit or what to put in. any advice?

Turbo kit for a 13b? It would all have to be custom fabbed. It would be worth it just to get a TII engine and do that swap if you have the know how and are capable of doing such things.

I didn't see that you already had the 13b in it. You will just have to custom fab everything for a turbo kit. You can use parts off of a TII, but depending on the year of the 13b, you probably have a six port rather than a four port which, if I recall correctly, is known for causing people lots of problems when they turbo it. I know there are some out there though.

How do you like the dual Weber? If you decide to part with it, PM me. I'm looking for an intake and carb setup for my REPU.

Sounds like you have the old style 13B 4-port. The TII turbo and exhaust mani will bolt up, then you need to decide if you want to go blow through carb or do a TII intake and efi. With your location, I would go efi, tuning a carb for trips in the mountains will be a real pita.

Btw, there is no turbo kit, per se, for the 1st gens. A TII swap is one of the more common routes taken, along with a blow through with either a 12A or 13B.
