ON Deburring Booster Venturi?

So I've finally gotten to rebuilding my carb (I finally found a supplier for Hygrade kits in Toronto!) and I've got a few questions:

I've noticed that the booster venturi's do not have very smooth edges, it seems almost as if they were not deburred from the factory... Is this deliberate or can I very carefully take my dremel and smooth out the edge a bit?

Also, I guess somewhat related, is there anything I should do while it's apart that will help with a street driven streetport 12a SA? So far all I can think of is mechanical secondaries.....

Thanks!
Kam

You're in luck.

I've created a thread with details. It won't be procedural, but rather just some pics and some info. But pictures speak a thousand words, so... https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati.../#post11256409

I usually just file them back lightly and then polish them to smooth them over. I wouldn't be touching the boosters with a dremel unless you have very steady hands. changing the profile of the booster venturi inlet angles could have a major effect on carb performance so be careful.

Here is a question. Why do you need to deburr them? Did you tap them out with a socket, and damaged the edges?

I read somewhere that's how some people get the boosters out. Bad idea. I use a spare air bleed and pull up with a vice grip. I wonder if this is Sterling's method? He probably mentioned it somewhere once. Maybe search his site?

I don't know; I just bought the car a year ago.
The edges of the boosters weren't very smooth or sharp.
As you describe, it seemed like somebody might have bumped them with some sort of tool...

In any case I just used my dremel to clean up the edges, followed by a quick polish with one of those felt cones and some buffing compound.

Thanks,
Kam

Oh, ok. The other carb pictured in my thread, the one with the stock venturis, looks like someone used a socket on the boosters. If I decide to work with it, deburring the venturis is the first thing I'll do.

I wrapped tape around some vice grips and just pulled them out with a little wiggling
