Dash Lights for 79 RX-7 GS

Searched past Threads and didn't come up with anything.....

Has there been a detailed Thread describing how to upgrade the dash lighting & HVAC display on 1st Gen SA's?

('understand dash cluster may have to be removed to access lights.....)

Thanks

Thanks .....The link you provided seems to refer to exterior lights

Does such a link exist for dash cluster (removal) and cluster lighting removal and replacement?
Ditto HVAC control panel lighting....

Thanks-
Ron

The factory service manual has the procedure. This is the 1980 but it's the same as the 1979.

If you read through all the posts in that thread, I talk about replacing the lights in the cluster with LEDs. The cluster removal itself is fairly easily done, so didn't go into detail for that. FSM covers it pretty well.

I changed my dash out for a PowerTune digital dash so I never replaced those lamps.

I'm pretty sure this is what I used for the glove box lamp, cigarette lighter lamp and AC panel lamp. Without taking things apart I'm not sure which ones fit where.

(smaller PC.. ones).

Don't chase an issue with the glove box light like I did for a bit. I thought the glove box light was enabled by the headlight stalk and dimmer **** but it has to have the key turned to ACC/ON. After removing the dash lamp loads and changing the AC/cigarette lamps to LED the dimmer became an off/on ****.

The license plate lamps are these -

I also replaced the side marker, turn indicator, brake and backup lights with LED but I was also doing my Miata lights at the same time and I cannot say which models I used. When I did the turn lights they started hyper flashing. I could not find a modern turn relay quickly and took apart the OEM turn relay. There is a coil around a glass reed relay in it and if you short out the reed relay the hyper flash goes away.

The headlights were replaced with
