I don't know, I'm pretty sure 13BEEF has been working on these for quite a while. Last I checked, he was actually selling them.

Lots of people under estimate the time and $$$$$ that it takes to complete custom projects. Anyone who has ever done a custom project knows that there are always unforseen complications that can and will pop up. Also this price includes finding me two good condition hoods. A perfect condition rust free 1st gen hood and a good condition 2nd gen TII hood to cut the scoop off of. I dont mind paying the pros for there experience, and I also expect perfection when I pay someone to make something custom. I think by the time you spend the time and money to obtain the 2 hoods, do all the custom cutting, fabrication and body work plus have the experience of doing this project before and getting it perfect which you can see they have a track record of doing, this isnt that bad of a price. I was waiting for and have sent messages to people on these boards about buying there custom FG or CF hoods and it doesnt seem to be happening. Lots of talk but know results. You guys may be waiting for a while to get this hood for $600-$700 and then it might not fit perfectly seeing how it is from a mold and not an original hood just modified. This hood is going to be so bad *** on my car.

I was sticker shocked when hearing the price, but it's your project....Regardless, it'll look beautiful when it's done. It'll be a hell of a compliment to what you got goin' on under the hood. Car should look awesome when it's done!

It will be functional. He can use it to cool the engine block, alternator, engine bay. Also, it will be one sweet hood to finish a already awesome sports car. Also, I personally don't like the sleepy eyes, But do what youwant, but it already looks like you like the stock ones. Good job. I'm with you Modified85 about the hood, I hope everything comes out better than you think it will. Take care, god bless.

P.S. If you(Modified85) ever sell the car let me know

Modified85, that hood will look super sharp on your allready super sharp ride you have there. I agree with what you said and if I had the money I probably would be doing the same thing. I'm getting my hands on a t2 hood. I have a spare hood from my 84. So the obvious thing for me to do is make my own. Here are my plans so far:

I will first measure about how much product from the t2 hood I will need. The plan is to get enough material to reach the stock fb hood seams. Won't know if thats possible untill I get the t2 hood. I have a plasma torch so I will make smooth cuts on the t2 hood. These pictures with generic lines is to show what i'm talking about.

This has to be the way they did it.

Once cut, I will remove the skin. Measure and cut a hole on the fb hood. Lay the skin on the fb hood, weld, fill and smooth. I have extra paint for my fb, so once the hard part is done, I will dust off my paint gun, a little high build primer, some sanding, a couple of coats of paint and hopefully It will turn out well. I have people with experience to help me so I think it will come out super.

you could have done it for much cheaper...I just measured, cut, drilled, and placed the scoop on my hood...tomorrow I will put the screen on the scoop hole, rivet it down with aluminum rivets and polyurethane marine silicone, and fibreglass it in and done....2 days work from install to primer...

Lee, I love your positive attitude. Only problem that ruins it for your post is that you didn't include any progress pics!

Kim, I hate burst your bubble and plans, but almost all of the TII hoods are aluminum. There are , however a few rare steel ones.

I sent aussiesmg the TII scoop insert this summer so he can do the mockup and make the molds for it However, I don't know if he has a TII hood to test for fitment. The part of the hood that the scoop mates to will also need to be made to simplify mounting to an existing hood.

Steve, if you do need a hood, let me know. I may be able to drop mine off during the Canadian trip. Let me know.

Wow that did burst my bubble. I might have to make a mold then. I know this guy who does molds for bike parts. He made some parts for my track bike. I'll contact him and see what he can do for me then.

You will need both the scoop and hood then for templates/models. There have been some decent reproductions on eBay. The scoop is also 2 pieces, but I think it would be easier to make it as a single unit, along with a wide enough flange to glass it to the hood.

In your case, since you don't need the scoop to pull fresh air into the tmic, I suggest a reverse mount to pull heat out of the engine bay. If installed in stock orientation, it becomes of value only if will supply gresh air to the intake.

Nice part about it being aluminum is that fiberglass releases so much better on an aluminum part. I'm going to try and make it a 2 piece like stock being how easy it's going to be to reproduce, but if it fails then 1 piece it is.

Reverse mount? Meaning the opening facing me as if I was in the car right?
That's an interesting concept. Although I was thinking of mounting it where my sidedraft filter would benefit from fresh air.

This will be an interesting project for me.

BTW trochoid, any chance that I can get you to redo my gsl-se gas tank?

Depending on how/where your intake is setup, if you can't set the scoop up to supply fresh air to it, then the reverse mount will help pull heat out of the engine bay. PM me for any questions you have on modding/refurbishing your tank.

I am making a fibreglass stock hood skin, then a fibreglass TII hood scoop, then we will graft the scoop into the fibreglass stock hood and make a plug from that, then we can make as many TII hoods as we want, they can be stock mount or extra thin for lightweight using zeus fasteners.

It is taking time though, but the wait will be worth it...

No I havent heard anything about my hood yet. When I ordered it in december they did say that they wouldnt start on it untill the begining of january and that I was looking at 6-8 weeks so I figure I will give them untill the 3rd week of february before I bug them. Its ok because my car is with the mechanic for the final finishing touches including the dyno tune. I am hoping to get it back in the next few weeks. After I get this car back and get the hood painted and installed I am not doing anything but driving it. Well I might get some new wheels and upgrade to the T2 brakes.
