Custom Gauges Are Here
ok i finaaly uploaded the custom gauges and here they are,
i have 8 sets to upload so pease dont post until i have them all up for anyone who hasnt been keeping up to date on these gauges here is the scoop, im in a very tight bind right now with cash, so i have several templates saved on my computer, here are some of the templates, i also have someone sending me a set of 79-80 gauges and 81-83 gauges so i can temlates made from them, the following images are just to show what i can do. here are the options currently available any color numbers, letters, background, background picture that pretty much means anything goes, the current ones you see here are only $40.00 for a custom setup im charging $45.00 the pictures you see are not just templates from my computer, THEY ARE THE ACTUAL GAUGES SCANNED IN AND UPLOADED so what you se is what you get the blue lines you see are the part that is to be cut out, i will do all the cutting and custom fitting for you, all you have to do is put them in, my gauges take a fraction of the time to install compared to other custom gauges, when you use my custom gauges your old gauges are left unharmed so you still have the option to reuse your old gauges if you wish to do so, ok any more questions??? p.m. me here is how this all got started old thread |

Nice, what type of paper do you use to print these designs on?
|
ok,
thats it, let me know what you guys think, those are all of the templates on my computer, until i get the 79-80 & 81-83 sets |
i am glad to see that you were able to use that schematic diagram... almost makes me want to buy a set once you get them available for SA's
|
SCHEMATIC KICKS ASS. i was in a pm tag match with someone else on the sa's. he said that he thought he knew someone with and old set lying around. if not i'll still pull mine. i have no $$$ for shipping or the gauges right now. in fact i have no $$$$for gas for the van. i'm screwed. anyone know a company looking for a drafter/designer/modeler?
|
i had an extra gauge cluster from a 79, but not sure if i can find it now.. sorry
|
They look nice.. When you get 79/80 i'lll buy 2 of them..
|
Has anyone even started to send kilah the cluster for the '79-'80 gauges?? And has the d#*% money to get this done?? I need to know, cuz I got no problem stepping up to the plate,... I want the E-L thing more, but I can provide him what he needs to get the template work done....
|
For installation, do these replace or overlay the originals?
How do they look with the standard backlighting? Is there a better bulb to buy that would light them up better? Any pics after install? These questions are just curiousity, I'll still take a set. :) |
mar3, you're welcome to send if you can do it that quickly. kilr, can you darken up the first schematic one. i like the faded but you can barely see that one. maybe darken it for the sa's.
|
darkening it a little bit could be cool, but the second one seems to dark. makes the gauge face to busy.
|
If anyone gets a picture of these things installed with both Daytime and Nighttime pics, please post them. :D
Chris |
it sounds like they are not actuall in production yet, so we will have to wait i suppose
|
Wonder what they look like at night? Got any pics?
|
v8 - They look fucking sweet! If I send you a cluster from my car, what can you do for me?
|
Keep in mind that they had 85mph speedos in '80 and I think '81 also.
|
I think 82 was too a 85, first year of the 120 was 83 again, right?
|
it is easy enough to put a 140 mph gauge in the earlier clusters, so donot worry about it. just do that... that is what i have in mine.

These questions are just curiousity, I'll still take a set. :) heres how they look, these are jose's custom gauges not mine but look the same at night, http://www.printroom.com/_vti_bin/Vi...=42&courtesy=1 kinda a yellowish color, i had pretty good luck with changing the bulbs as well to add color, on the 84-85 there is 3 bulbs, the part number is #194 5watts acording to jose, they will take place of the original gauge faces ,not overlay, installation is simple as does not require removing the whole gauge cluster on the 84-85, unless you want to change the bulb color, then you will need to remove the cluster. the 79-83 im pretty sure you will need to remove the cluster, i'll know when i get a setup from someone. |

after looking over them i noticed all the colors are darker in real life,
there all much more vivid, not so fadded looking, must have the brightness cranked to high on the scanner |
How do you get the front cover off without removing the cluster? It screws on from the back side.

Originally posted by Felix Wankel How do you get the front cover off without removing the cluster? It screws on from the back side. you can then manuver it to get your hand behind it with a small phillips screwdriver to get out the remaining 2 screws that hold it from the top sides |

Ah what a gip :(
|
I am holding my 1980 cluster right now:) So I am here too:) I have no use for it, for a while:D its in peices, so I could scan the faces, so I can play with it a little:), So if you need SA ones, I am HERE:D

Anyone sending in the 79/80 clusters?
|
Just out of curiousity, can you do black guages with light silver or white lettering which wouldn't be so flashy with my black interior? i know, unconventional (not really, that's what is already there), but bright white amoungst all my pretty black things would be a bit much, i'm starting to think....
I *love* this look, and would like my 7 to have the same reserved, upscale appearance. http://www.mirafiori.com/modelinfo/124/sc/sc3srint.jpg |
How is it possible that your gauges will look the same at night without customizing the original face to let the light go through. When I did mines like the style you are now doing, the gauges would not light up like the ones I have now... have you tried them on a car yet and compare them both, to see what I am talking about..... Without clearing the original face of the black they will not take the look like the ones I have, unless you have provided some type of lighting for the overlays themselves... care to enlighten me with how they will look the same...
I just want to know how you accomplish this without clearing the black of the original face.... That's not the way I am taking it... I just wanted to know how you were doing this without having to modified the original faces....
If is a replacement plastic, I can see how, but the 79-83 are different style plastic... which will be a more interesting task.... By all means continue the good work....
