Cruise Control?

Hey... Does anyone know where the connections are supposed to be made for putting cruise into an 83 GS that didn't already have it? I bought the whole setup including switches off of an '85. I checked the archives and found nothing of course. I know the gold box gets connected underneath the driver's side storage box, but I don't know where the big cylinder gets mounted, where to attach the vaccum hose, cable, and electric connection. Anyone know? If you have a 1st gen with cruise in it, it shouldn't be to hard to see, but there aren't any around me that I can find to look at. The Haynes manual was NO HELP at all. Thanks!

Dunno on a 83, but the 84-85's are completely prewired for it. Under the drivers side storage box did you find the big *** plug? If not, then Id say it isnt wired for it And your in a BIG OLE mess

The gold box in the bin. then, on the passenger side of the engine bay in the very back corner is where the vacuum unit goes. It had a stock bracket. The cable goes right next to the accelerator cable terminus on the linkage. There is a vacuum line it T's into, but I don't know which one. There is a kickdown switch on or near the brake light switch. Check the electric diagram. The on off switch goes on the console. If you don't have one an on/off toggle should work anywhere, just find the correct wires in the middle console and connect a 2 wire on/off toggle. I would put it on the dash.
