Crazy electrical problems

Crazy electrical problems
So I was driving home tonight in a pretty bad rainstorm and suddenly my 'Add Coolant' light goes on and the car starts to run like ****. It was bucking and popping and generally acting like it wasn't getting spark or fuel. Soon after the 'Add Coolant' light went on, all the warning lights came on and there was a buzzing noise coming from the fuse box. I put on the hazzards in case the car died altogether, and they just came on solid and would not blink. The car made it back to my place and I shut it off. I immediately tried to start it up again, and the warning lights came back very faintly with the key in the 'ON' position, and when I turned the key, I got nothing. Not even a click.
I should note that my votage regulator has been giving me trouble lately. When I start the car, it sometimes won't kick in and I have to raise the RPM's slightly without any accessories on, which usually makes it snap back on properly. Tonight when I initially went to start the car to go home (right before the problem struck,) it was acting like I had a poor ground. I got out and fiddled with the battery cables a bit and then the car started, only to start acting up about ten miles down the road.
So what am I looking at here? Did my voltage regulator finally give out completely? Did I take the alternator along with it? What's the deal with the buzzing noise coming from the alternator? Or is it just a bad ground at the battery?
