Angry CP Racing Rack Intstallation and thoughts

I got around to installing the CP Racing kit this past weekend and have ahd a chance to feel it out so to speak.

I must say that overall I highly regret changing systems.

First of the kit I recieved was approx. 1/2" more narrow than my frame rails. Both front mounts had to be ground to fit. Also the holes don't quite line up front to back. I had to do a lot of tweaking just to get the bolts placed.

Of course like I have read here many times before the kit hits the oil pan. Instead of raising the motor as some have suggested, I removed my oil pan and reworked the steel a little. I'm definitely not happy about that, but it doesn't make sense to me to raise the CG.

Now for driving impressions. Mainly it feels dog slow to turn. I would say almost 40% more input for same output. The steering is extremely "lumpy", with the last little bit of steering getting much more difficult. In my opinion the angle of attack on the lower u-joint is too steep.

I will say that any dead spots I may have had dissapeared, but all I can say to that is at what cost. I would rather have my old dead spot and nice linear feeling steering than my new sketchy steering with no dead spot.

I can also tell it will suck at the autocross due to increased input.

Maybe if the kit weren't quite so expensive I would not have any real complaints, but I have read to many times how this was a simple bolt-in install, and how much everything is improved to not be happy.

My plan of action now is to remove this buy new parts to replaced the trashed ones from install and put in a new factory box.

I just feel that the quality and construction of the kit weren't quite ready for prime time. Maybe a few more people like myself that do installs and notice the problems and the future kits may get revamped.

So if anyone may want to try out a cheap cp kit just let me know.

The lumpyness has completely gone away on mine after about 250 miles of driving. I didn't like mine much at first either but after pulling the column tube off (to fix squeaking), a good alignment (after FOUR tries!), lots of tweaking and cursing, it feels pretty nice.

It did feel slower at first, but I'm getting used to it or not noticing it as much because I'm driving faster.
