A couple of stupid questions
Okay, time for more of my stupid newbish questions
First of all, and this one is going to take the cake. How do you remove the shift ****? I have a replacement for my old crudded out one, but, I don't know how to remove the old one!
Second, and this one may be a little less stupid, but more confusing.
I have a new stereo system, as my old one was thrashed. Okay, it's more like a new CD deck, but, anyway. . . . .
I have the red and yellow power cords ( I think red is power, yellow either memory or ground ) and it's all fine until I follow the wires all the way from the deck to where they connect to the car. They're cut. I can't find any kind of clue as to where they go?!

the **** unscrews to the left, its gonna be tight from being on there so long with the shifter heating up and cooling down
as far as the wires, you're right, red is usually main power, and yellow is usually memory , I personally would suggest running them straight to the fuse box and not worry about the original power wires from the stock system

Jay, pull the shifter boot down, then you will see a chrome nut like thing on there. Crack it loose with a crescent wrench and then shift **** will unscrew right out. That is how you adjust the stock ***** so they point the right direction - that chrome nut.

Running the sterio straight to the fuse box is a good idea.
A bit of advise get a multi meter if you are gonna mess around with wiring...
It will save time and agrivation

As long as people don't know HOW I hurt myself, it's all good
Anyway, it seems the fuse box was the previous destination of the wires (it's an aftermarket stereo), and I think I've found the location they went to. Thanks for the heads up on that. It seems a lot easier than routing it through the steering wheel.
Next time I'm allowed to carry the battery back to the car (I'm running one battery between three cars) I'll check that out.

Okay, I'll talk. Since I like talking
I cut myself almost an inch deep cutting a pickle for a sandwhich, and it required three stitches. Multiple people have told me not to work on the car for fear of how dirty it is

Since your talking about battle wounds, I sliced open my thumb yesterday cutin' some carpet for the rear of my '82 GSL. The doc said that it was about 5mm deep (which is right next to the bone and nerve), but he said that I missed them by a hair's length... man that was close.
