i was wondering what power difference of porting like from street port to the last one. because my motor just lost its compression and im buying a 85 gsl se car for a parts car mine is a 83 and my motor went out on me on the highway 2 weeks ago so me and a friend of mine is either goin to take my engine apart or take the motor that still runs out of the 85 and put it in mine and then ill slowly overtime rebuild mine . but i was wondering for the porting because my motor is street ported and the one im getting is not ported at all. also quick ? will the 85 cluster fit in my 83, thanks alot

 

The 85 GSLSE you're buying has a bigger motor than your 83 (it is also fuel injected instead of carb'd) Your old 12A motor made about 110hp (stock) and the 13B from the GSLSE makes about 130hp (stock).

Your 12A had some porting done so I suspect performance will be comperable with a stock 13B in it's place.



The 85 cluster will not fit in an 83 without a complete dash swap. (pain in the ***)

If the GSLSE is in good shape don't part it out, drive it. it is a much more desirable car than your 83. If it's in bad shape swap the entire susspension and rear end into your 83 as they (as well as the engine) are an upgrade from what you have now.

 

i forgot to mention that my car already has the 85 gsl se motor inside of it and rear end also and i have kosi struts in the back of mine also, but stock in the front. its just that my motor is like gone until i rebuild it the compression went out. the motor i have when i bought it the guy had the injection took off and he put a holley 4 barrel carb on it with rb headers & exshaust. so it wouldnt be any different if i took it out and put it in mine. but are the sway bars better and what the difference between the suspension of the 83 and the 85.thanks
