Couple of questions

I just bought my rx7 about a week ago, and i've got a few questions...

Any rpm above about 3,000 rpm, I hear a squeeling on the front left side. Would this be bearings? If I shift up and the rpm's drop it immediately quits.

Second, the brakes feel very mushy, and when I asked the seller, he told me it was normal with older rx7's? If I need to stomp on it, it'll hold pressure and really stop, but if I need to sort of coast on it, it'll drop out and I pretty much have to hold the brake pedal as if I were trying to shove my foot through the floorboards? Is this old rubber brake lines that have a lot of give?

Last question, has anyone here fixed power windows? Its jerky even as they slide down, and once they are, the only way to get them up, is take the door panels off and push up on the side of the glass closest to the door hinges, otherwise the handle side raises up quicker, causing the left side to just completely miss it's track and then everything gets screwed up. Is that because the "X" contraption inside the door that lowers/raises the actual window is outta whack, or....? Any help would be awesome. It really sucks not being able to put my windows down.

Oh, one last thing. I had an exhaust leak middle ways down the exhaust, right where there was a bracket stretching across the car... I had a new section welded there, and now that bracket hangs REALLY low. I sound like a damn snow plow but it's gravel instead of snow. Do you guys just remove that bracket completely with custom exhausts, or should I weld different hangers in it's place?

Thanks everyone.

Ok, the squeeling may be the belt?

The brakes should not feel mushy... mine are tight, this problem is probally failing primary cups in the master cylinder.

And for the jerky power windows this is common... check out this link: http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars...r_windows.html

People need to realize one thing: IF A PROBLEM IS A CONSTANT NOISE AFTER YOU BEGIN MOVING, AND RPMS HAVE NO BEARING ON THE SOUND, IT IS IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM, OR DRIVETRAIN (MANY TIMES DRIVESHAFT OR DIFF). IF THE SOUND IS RELATIVE TO THE RPMS OF THE ENGINE, AS YOURS IS, IT IS ENGINE OR BELT RELATED. You could try dressing the belts to see if the improves the noise at all. Get belt dressing from an auto parts store or use some dishwashing liquid and rub the pulleys with the dishwashing liquid until they are clean, then wipe the dishwashing liquid off with a paper towel. A new belt would probably not be out of the question, as if it's squeeling badly, there may be oil or grease soaked into the belt. If may also be your water pump, air pump, or alternator. All have bearings in them that can go bad and make herendous screeching noises. Get a buddy to hold the rpms steady at where you hear the problem most pronounced and poke around under the hood until you can find the source of the noise. Hope this helps, make sure not to get your head chopped off in any moving parts though...
