Is the top of the diff supposed to have a plastic plug? Or a metal nut to seal it off? Cuz mine was a plustic plug, with a plastic/rubber cap on top of it.

And my drive shaft has a teeny bit of freeplay in it and it clonks kinda when I move it. Figured this is where the loud clanging comes from when I start off in first gear sometimes. So this means my driveshaft is bad? Or the diff is going?

 

Oh and my fuel pump likes to make a loud clicky noise. Is this normal? Or a sign that it needs to be replaced? I ask because I notice sometimes my car will sputter when under hard accell, thinking maybe the pump isn't working sometimes. Yes, I replace the fuel filter every year. Thanks in advance...
