Corvair turbo's on Rotaries?
Okay.... someone just IM'd me and told me that the Corvair turbo can bolt right up to the flange of the throttle plates on a 12a. Sounds fiiiiishy to me. What do ya'll think? Anyone ever hear of this?

I really don't know if you'd want to use a Corvair turbo on an RX-7.. they can barely move enough air to support the 164 cubic inch flat 6 in the later 'Vairs at 5k RPM let alone even a 12A trying to push 7k ...

Airflow is my life
The later model vairs (65-69) turbos have a much improved impeller/turbine wheel shape. Those engines made 180 hp with the same engine/carb. So if you can do this (i.e. it fits a 7), use the later style, or get the 150 if its cheap and replace the cartridge. I believe it's a rayjay unit. Thats what all the guys did way back when to boost the hp in their 63-64 150hp spyders. Been years since I messed with my vairs. I still got a barn full of vair parts at my dads house. Maybe con him into sending me some of my old turbos so I can look into it. SO this would bolt up how? supposedly?

I would be willing to bet that some sort of fabrication would be necessary unless the seller already modded it to fit a rotary. And as someone else mentioned, can a rotary breathe that deep?

sounds verrrry fishy to me. what about the exhaust manifold for instance :-P ? and why do that when you can get a stock TII mani and turbo and round out the holes from what i hear, still no solid proof til i do it or someone beats me to it, but it sure does sound easier than that. and carbs are easy to come by compaired to turbos. the only hard part is the piping. anyone know who can make me a good manifold for my 12a that'll fit a t04e or should i make it mahself muhahahaha
