Coolant SEals

A buddy of mine has a 1st gen RX-7 i'm not sure what the year is. But The other day he started to burn coolant and rad is low the overflow tank is boiling and there was what looked to be a seal in the radiator when he opened it up. I told him the coolant seals he had already figured that out. So i jus wanted to double check with you guys. Cause he is really determined on fixing the problem. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!
