Coolant hoses

A guy's SE up the street busted the heater hose last week. No harm done (didn't let it overheat), but then my son's same hose broke on his 91 NA yesterday. I'm getting a bit paranoid, figure mines next! (84 SE)
Ho often do you guys change all heater/coolant hoses, and which ones seem to give way the most?

the heater hose that runs under my oil cooler went out on me due to the fact that my oil cooler was leaking. but since you don't have the same oil cooler, i am not sure if this one is a problem for you. i have an 85 gsl.

Yep the GSL I used to have was a problem in that area, the oil weakens the hose.
Just wondering how long these stock hoses last, and if there's any way to tell when one's ready to go.
