Converting a 13B- 6port to 4

I read in a prevous post that I could basically convert my GSL-SE 6port engine to a 4port by using 12a side housings. Also, any old style 4port 13b intake would bolt right up. Would my header pattern change? What would this project consist of? Anything need swapped other then the housings when doing this? I definatly like the sound of a cheap rebuild and a ported 4 port

Why? The 6 port is what gives you better low- and high-end performance out of the engine, which is why they switched...

The only reason to do that would be if you were going turbo or Supercharger, which, it looks like you are.

Manntis- look at his siggie!!

nothing would change as far as the header. I have a normal 13b RB exhaust - it actually came off of a GSL-SE. You should have no problems there.

The only other things you should need are the engine gaskets and o-rings. While you've got your engine apart, why not port? it's already opened up!!

Good luck!!

4 are better than 6

Actually it was because they needed to meet emissions requirements. From a purely performance perspective, four ports are definitely better than six. This is tue whether supercharged or not. Supercharging just magnifies the difference since there is more air moving through the one large vs. two small ports. A four port engine is also less complicated and more reliable. You don't have to control opening of the other 2 ports and can dispense with the actuators, computers, and other associated garbage.

its just two acutators controlled directly by exhaust back pressure. Not very complicated there....
