Question Control Arms

I was looking at the one that Victoria British sells and it appears that you can get the ball joint seperately. Doing it this way, I could save some money, but is this the right way to go about doing this? I want to restore the steering/suspension to factory spec, not just do a cheap fix, but I can't imagine that the control arm body would ever wear out due to highway miles.

You need a press to take out the old ones and install the new ones. I know I did it

Some folks report having trouble with the pressed joint coming out. They've recommended tack welding them in after the press is done. I pressed mine in without the welding and they were still there the last time I looked.

Yes, MUCH cheaper. And when done correctly, effective.

Just had mine done by my local mechanic for $20. He has a $700 ball joint press and it took him about 10 minutes. Don't forget to have him press on the ball joint boot also (I didn't have the right tool for that either).

I pressed in my ball joints with a tool I rented at AutoZone. Car has been through several AutoX's and they seem to be holding up fine, knock on wood.
