contemplating dash swap 85 -> 82 gsl

I only have a few weeks to do this in. Just wanted to know where did all the dash swap stuff run off to. I have been search for a while.. searched under dash+swap and console+swap.

what else can I search under to find what I need.

Plan of attack:
1) locate the various wires that are incorperated into the dash
a)which buttons.. headlight motors, ****.. what are the other.. freaking beer and brain cells don't mix.
b) remove the dash on the '82 gsl. (halfway there allready)
c) tap into the lines and incorperate them into the new buttons.

example.. say with a light bulb and a switch. the switch is in the 82 and the bulb is in the 85 dash. remove the switch, splice the wires. Now the bulb out of default becomes the switch.

fall back. save some cash and get the freaking correct center console that holds the dimmer for the dash and the power mirror switches.

I would appreciate some input from anyone that has successfully done this job.

I would really appreciete some help. with the right person that can hunt down the various color schemes for the switches, we can make a HOW TO guide. I can take pics of the work I have done before and after. I am a preaty thouough person when I start something I like to finish it.

I have a harness from the 85 and dash cluster from the same car. The harness is a lil but cut up but it should be good.

I have preaty much all the tools and a nice clean area to start hacking everything all to bits.

I remember reading a thread a while back that they are not interchangeable due to dash bolt places, apperently they don't bolt up to the same spots, like i said this is what i recall reading but i'm not 100% sure ...

they are interchangable

but it is NOWHERE near easy!

I was going to do this to my '83 GS but decided against it as it was just too much work!

As far as swapping dashes goes, it can be done with patience and knowledge. But for the electronics you have more of a headache ahead of you.

My car's interior when I got it:

And now after the interior swap:
