He's not talking in PSI.
The proper rotary compression testers use a funky metric measurement. 8.9 is damn good compression on a mazda rotary compression tester.

You guys are crazy if you don`t think $2500 is a good deal. Have you seriously ever spent money on your car? If you did I think you`d realize what this stuff costs. No just in terms of the actualy purchase, but all the little goodies that don`t come with and you find you need along the way. Plus extra labor and shipping costs, etc...
I can totally sympathize with the guy trying to get some money back. And don`t anybody give me that **** about "you don`t get your money back on stuff like this", `cause it makes me wonder the last time you dropped $7k on a project and decided to sell it to recoup some money.
Personally, if I had had the money I`d buy that setup.

yea when I first read the ad I thought it was mazdatrix selling it, since the location is signal hill Ca, guess its just a coincidence. Either way its a good deal, wish I had the money for that...
Actually he said Mazdatrix built it for him close to two years ago. And it might be worth that much, but I'm not going to pay that for a used engine. For example, he says the oil was changed every two thousand miles: how many times did he do that? How did he drive the car, did he let it warm up before he started ripping around at redline, what kind of air filter was he using? Too many unanswered variables to make that engine worth the risk.
It says he used a K&N air filter. I would pay that for the engine. If you add it up, to build the same engine for yourself, it would cost at least $5000 as mentioned in the add. Its the misc. parts that add up though. It comes with everything to make it run except the oil filter pedestal and alternator. Basically just a drop in engine.

I'm with everyone else on this one. The asking price for that engine is totally worth it. Have you ever priced haveing your engine rebuilt and ported, then priced out all of the additonal parts he has on this one? I think he's taking a loss on it myself
You guys crack me up....did anyone stop and think that maybe it's my engine? I did post it, remember
Thank you to those of you who understand that this is a good deal, I really appreciate you guys coming to my defense, especially considering you you did'nt know who the motor belonged to
Anyhow, let me try to answer some questions....
Well, thats where the engine is now. Basically, it's a hell of a lot easier.
This is a private party sale. I am good friends with the guys over there though.
I really did change the oil every 2k, all 6.5 quarts! I drove the motor like it was suppose to run, hard....but I never drove hard on a cold engine. I also used an upgraded aluminum radiator which kept water temps cold....do a search, I'm sure there are some old threads out there with pictures of my old engine bay.

When I first saw the thread title I figured it was yours, but in your original post it sounded as if you had just found the ad and was passing the link along to us. Either way its a good engine, I wish I had the cash for it as its basically what I want for my project. I'm curious, whats in your car now that replaced it?
It's a noice engine, that's fo sho. I paid $1800 for a rebuilt/streetported engine, RB templates as well. I was able to inspect the rotors and rotor housings before assembly (the housings are my avatar) to ensure they were in excelent condition. Stock clutch and flywheel, and after including $ for a rebuilt carb and modded air box etc., which would be comparable with that Holley carb setup, I probably spent around the same, and no nice oil pan, light flightwheel or anything else. So it is a good price.
