Cold start?

I have an SE and since ive had it it has never had a high idle when cold started. You know when it goes to about 1500-2000 I think then slowly drops. Can anyone explain this? Why the car does this in normal conditions and the reasons why mine might not be doing this.

this is normal. its called "cold start enrichment" its meant to cycle the oil and coolant and basically get things going in a not so techincal term. it is normal and it just depends on it working. my SE doesnt do it all of teh time and sometimes it does every day for a week. no problems associated with this behavior.
