Cold air & rat nest removal VS winter

Reading up on these at

http://maz_tutorials.ten15.net/Tutorial_2_CAI.pdf

And athough I'll go a route that looks a littel nicer I'd like to do the cold air mod. After reading it I have a few questions.

Will any of the carb/aribox mods hurt my cold weather startup/driveability ? Esp the stub pipe for the heat riser hose. I'm all for elimination of emission based equipment but the guys that did this mod are from FLA. I don't want it to start snowing and freeze my carb open or something. So my question is can I just remove all the lines going to the air box and plug them off? Or will the effect my winter driving?

Pretty much the same question for the ratnest/smog pump removal?

Thanks!

These guys know what they are doing, and this is a well used tutorial, no problems if done right...

do all the mods you want, it will never get too cold in ks, remove all that crap. if you want to do it right do away with the nikki all together and get a nice 2 barrel.

Alright, thanks! Being from FLA myself I don't know much about this cold weather.

should start a new thread but WTF..

Always thought the gas mileage of a 4bbl was better? I was thinking of a small 300-400 cfm holley street avenger carb (or even smaler) with the electric choke? Why do you say go with the 2bbl?
