My info was based on measuring the temperature of air entering the stock Nikki snorkle, the difference between that and external was minimal. I believe Sterling is also doing some experimentation on temperatures.

There may be a different result with a pair of Webers due to their location. On a Lotus we fitted a 6 inch flexible tube ending near rhe twin 45 set-up to solve an air flow problem with a rear engine, it may have reduced air intake temperature as well.

What may original post related to was that fitting 'cold air' ducting is not a priority. I do have a ducting system fitted, but that is because may modified carb came that way!

javord, if you have a nikki then it will work, the filter is designed for a holley four barrel. so its too big. I went to the my local true value and bought this rubber pcv hose thing that worked great. it like a 5in to 3in adapter or something.

I presume its a sidedraught Webber set up with K&N pods on the end. Anything less than a 6" feed would be too constricting but it does not necessarily have to end in a box.

The intake can be located any where in front of the radiator depending where the oil cooler is located. There are several threads on the forum which describe how this is done, for example REVHED with his modified Nikki.
