coilovers

who sells coilovers for 1st gen? ive looked and had no luck.

Though I think you'd need the camber plates to go with it. You can also try gforceengineering, and i ISCracing.net have them to.

does anyone actually have the coil-overs? Do they make a huge improvement? do the have different handling charicteristics because of changed geometry?

No, Coilovers do not change the geometry (at least that's not the point). I'm running coilovers as well as camber plates on my first then along with stiffer spring rates, and the car handles great in autoxing. But the point of coilovers is to allow height adjustments, easy change in spring rates (more of a universal springs), as well as fine adjustments for corner balancing to fine tune the handling of your car. If you combine it camber plates, it also allows running negative camber which allows for more traction in turns.
